A shrub, by definition is a woody plant with several stems at the base. They are an essential part of any garden, modern or classical. They provide a backbone and structural integrity to any design. Using a mixture of evergreen and deciduous shrubs will help provide a wonderful view all year round.
At Clockhouse Nursery we pride ourselves on the fact that we still grow a large quantity of shrubs ourselves and maintain a wide selection of shrubs all year. They are displayed on alphabetical beds for easy location. If you require something specific and are unable to find it for yourself, our staff would be delighted to help.
Within the ‘Shrubs’ heading we would also like to mention that we stock a large selection of bamboos, conifers and specimen shrubs. Bamboo has become a popular boundary plant providing a tall, delicate, evergreen to semi-evergreen barrier whilst conifers remain a popular choice for adding evergreen accent specimens and rockery height.
Specimen shrubs are aimed at the increased need for “Instant Gardening”, where an immediate impact is required. Large versions of popular shrubs can be used in new gardens to give a mature garden feel, or maybe to replace an older plant lost to damage or disease. For contemporary and classical designs we offer a range of topiary plants such as ilex crenata, buxus and ligustrum jonandrum.
Garden retail like it used to be.
Here at Clockhouse Nursery we pride ourselves in providing reasonably priced plants & the products you need to grow them effectively.
That is all.
So, no need to wade through the tide of unnecessary paraphernalia that you will find in most modern garden centres.
No need to worry about parking either as we have over 150 spaces available.
Not many Garden Centres can boast over ninety years of history, and yes, we have seen many changes over that period. Indeed change will continue as we strive always to supply the best in plants and facilities. One thing, however, will never change:
The core philosophy first introduced by Archibald John Mills way back in 1928 remains - the philosophy that built the company’s reputation, sustains it now, and will guide it in the future:
The best way to keep gardeners happy is to offer them plants of the highest quality, sold at reasonable prices.Read more
